"The implicit premise in the new Readability is that readers are willing to pay for what they read—that we see its intrinsic value. At the same time, it offers a means of payment that is automatic—akin to Amazon’s 1-click, or buying music in iTunes, it removes the friction of payment by centralizing it and obviating the need for us to whip out our credit cards at every turn. And it does all this without erecting paywalls: understanding that it is not the payment that makes paywalls so unattractive, but the wall."

Google now shows live traffic in Beaumont, thanks to traffic crowdsourcing. It obtains car speed from bunch of GSP enabled phones with Google Maps installed (iPhone does not have crowdsourcing enabled). Thats pretty cool idea.

"Nowhere in Fiji Water’s glossy marketing materials will you find reference to the typhoid outbreaks that plague Fijians because of the island’s faulty water supplies; the corporate entities that Fiji Water has—despite the owners’ talk of financial transparency—set up in tax havens like the Cayman Islands and Luxembourg; or the fact that its signature bottle is made from Chinese plastic in a diesel-fueled plant and hauled thousands of miles to its ecoconscious consumers. And, of course, you won’t find mention of the military junta for which Fiji Water is a major source of global recognition and legitimacy."
